Technology of oil-and-gas bearing area development with oil displacement with water to obtain the most widespread occurrence. However, while its implementation the oil recovery factor (ORF) is not exceeded 0.5. Therefore, in Kazakhstan, with the significant amount of deposits with hard to recover reserves, the great importance is given to ORF improvement. NIPIneftegaz JSC Institute has the active position in solving problems of ORF improvement. Modern laboratory petrographic, physico-chemical and filtration studies are implemented here and geological and producing reservoir hydrodynamic modeling is performed. There are many works on testing, implementation and support of technologies to improve advanced recovery method (ARM) using the injection of: steam, hot water, Gellan polysaccharide solution and using the polymer flooding.Studies showed that the thermal methods efficiency depends on the coolant temperature. The greatest effect is achieved by the injection of steam into the reservoir, performed on Karazhanbas and Kenkiyak fields. However, due to high costs the injection of hot water at North Buzachi field is proved as an alternative. With increasing the water content the thermal methods efficiency is decreased. Since 2005, the Institute in cooperation with Chinese partners on the North Buzachi field, where oil viscosity is 400-600 cP, experimental-industrial tests on gel polymer injection is performed. Since 2013, at the Kumkol field the Gellan polysaccharide injection is implemented. Currently, due to the decrease of oil world prices the oil industry limits the pace of development, and the task of ORF improvement with the lowest cost becomes the relevant one. It is known that header and oil elastic properties play the important role in oil recovery. Technology providing the reduction of reservoir pressure, resulting in oil squeezing out from interlayers with lowered penetrability, with its following removal together with the general production is developed. Filtration studies of core material that confirm the technology effectiveness were performed. Technology recommended at the late stages of field development, and ensuring ORF improvement up to 5%, is protected by patent.
