An increasing number of representatives of the oil and gas industry are developing their own digital strategies to achieve business goals. In 2017, Accenture, together with Microsoft, conducted a survey among international independent oil and gas companies. The article provides evidence that the main areas for analytical investment chosen by the majority of respondents are asset management, drilling, capital project management and production optimization. It is emphasized that some companies are starting a digital transformation by optimizing their maintenance strategy. Others are introducing mobile platforms to digitize technical information. Still others begin with the introduction of software for predictive services in order to identify and prevent potential problems with the efficiency and performance of the equipment. According to the article, another important direction of digital transformation is the transition from the standard system of employee training to a system based on the new generation gaming technology. In addition, the issue is being considered that digital transformation makes it possible to understand whether the project meets the requirements. Multipurpose dynamic modeling is used for this. It is implemented from the beginning of the life cycle to the stage of commissioning of the object and expands the possibilities of using the digital twin.
