Since the first gas-in through the Saratov-Moscow gas pipeline, the centralized control of the gas supply systems has been continuously developing. The article presents a brief history of its development since the 1950s to present time. The structural analysis of the problems and tasks facing the dispatching personnel of the first level of management of the Unified Gas Supply System of the Russian Federation was carried out, the tools for their solution are presented, and the ways for the future development of centralized control methods and tools are shown. One of the most important milestones in the development of the centralized control of the Unified Gas Supply System of the Russian Federation was the Modernized dispatching control system of the Unified Gas Supply System commercialized in 2016. Its structural description with key characteristics of the functional content of its main subsystems is given in the article. Compared to the automated system for collection, transmission, displaying of operational technological information, which has been used since 1988, the amount of information collected from subsidiaries increased several times. The algorithms for data verification, processing and aggregation are systematized, and new tools for analyzing and supporting dispatching decisions are formed. At the same time, the centers of responsibility of the Company continue to work on improving and expanding the functionality of the modernized automated dispatch control system and applying the most advanced mathematical tools for analysis and forecasting in its subsystems. The unification of the information content of reference data on the Unified Gas Supply System facilities should be the basis for further development of the modernized automated dispatch control system. As a result, the Unified Model of the Unified Gas Supply System will be created within the frame of the Comprehensive Targeted Program for the Development of the Unified Information Space of the Gazprom Group for 2018–2022. The accuracy and depth of forecasting of the state of the Unified Gas Supply System of the Russian Federation will increase.
