Oleg I. SteklovOleg I. Steklov was born on July 23, 1933, in Nushpoly, the Moscow Region.
In 1957, he finished Bauman Moscow State Technical University with a specialization in “Equipment and Technology of Welding Engineering”, in 1963 – the postgraduate course at the same university.
He holds position in Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas – Professor of the Department of Welding and Monitoring of Oil and Gas Facilities from 2006.
Professional activity: Foreman, Leading Process Engineer of Uglemash, Sverdlovsk (1957–1959); Assistant, Associate Professor (1964–1975), Professor of the Department of Machinery and Automation of Welding Processes of Bauman Moscow State Technical University (1975–1981); at the Bauman University: Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (1985–1996). He lectured abroad for a short period of time: in China, Cuba, Vietnam, Germany, Professor, Head of the Department (1981–2006).
The Candidate's Dissertation “Investigation of Properties of Welded Connections Made of Titanium Alloys as Applied to the Operating Conditions in Aggressive Environments”, Bauman Moscow State Technical University (1963); the Doctoral Dissertation “Durability of Welded Connections and Structures in Case of Corrosion when Stressed”, Bauman Moscow State Technical University (1972).
An active member of the International Higher Education Academy of Sciences (1994), the Academy of Engineering Sciences (2004); a member of the Dissertation Committees of Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, CNIITMASH Scientific Production Association; the President of the Russian Scientific and Technical Welding Society (from 1995), a member of the Governing Board of the International Institute of Welding (from 1995), the Co-Chairman of the Section of Welding and Own Machine Building of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Russian Federation State Committee for Construction, Architectural and Housing Policy (from 1995), a member of the Scientific and Technical Council of Gazprom OJSC (from 1995), Stroytransgaz (from 1997), Spetsneftegaz (from 2000), Rosneftegazstriy (from 1998), a member of the editorial board of Welding Production (journal) (from 1970).
He is the author of more than 450 scientific papers.
He lectures on the following disciplines: Theory of welding processes; Physico-chemical mechanics of materials and structures; Welding of marine oil and gas structures.
He prepared 60 Candidates of Science and was a Scientific Consultant of 14 Doctoral Dissertations.
Honored Science Worker of Science and Technology of RF (1994), the winner of the prize of the Government of RF in science and engineering (1998). He is awarded with medals “Labor Veteran” (1986), “In memory of the academician S. P. Korolev (2003), the academician N. N. Semenov (2006), “In Memory of the 850th Anniversary of Moscow” (1997); the winner of the prize of the Ministry of Higher Education of USSR for the best work (1986), the winner of the Gubkin prize (1987, 2002); the recipient of award for excellence in gas industry (1990). He is awarded with a badge of the Ministry of Higher Education of USSR “For excellence in work” (1986), an Honorary Worker of the Gas Industry (2000).
