(THERMAL WASTE TREATMENT IN LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS PRODUCTION PLANTS)
The organic waste treatment technology considered in the article is a combustion process that uses special incineration equipment.
One prospective use of this equipment is in liquefied natural gas production plants that generate a colorless and odorless cryogenic liquid comprising a multi-component light hydrocarbon mixture based on methane. These facilities generate a wide range of solid, liquid, and gaseous production waste of various hazard classes suitable for thermal treatment.
The relevance of the subject has been reflected in creating a PJSC Gazprom corporate regulatory document for standardization and certification applicable to incineration equipment used in liquefied natural gas production, storage, and shipment. The document sets the scope and technical characteristics of the equipment.
The company standard STO Gazprom 2-3.4-1206–2020 “Infrastructure for production, storage and handling of liquefied natural gas. Incineration equipment. General specifications” was developed based on the performance analysis for the incinerators operated in Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC liquefied natural gas plants. The standard sets the technical requirements for the equipment, safety and environmental protection, acceptance practices, test methods, transportation and storage of waste generated during production, storage, and shipping of liquefied natural gas in PJSC Gazprom subsidiaries and companies.
The originally developed standard complies with the advanced practices for the best technologies available in thermal waste treatment. Its scope covers incineration equipment operated in the arctic, subarctic, mid-latitude, and subtropical climatic bands of the Russian Federation aimed at thermal treatment of municipal solid, bio-organic, industrial, liquid organic,
and mineral wastes, combustible waste gas, and sludges.
