(WORKPLACE MONITORING AS A TOOL TO IMPROVE WORKPLACE SAFETY AT PJSC GAZPROM FACILITIES)
One of the main harmful industrial factors for all business segments of the gas industry is high noise levels. Due to the growing volume of produced and transported gas, it is of great practical importance to assess the sufficiency of implemented measures and determine the need for improvement of known technical solutions to reduce the impact of this factor. For this purpose, data from assessment of working conditions obtained in the late 1970s were compared with current results. It was found that introduction of measures to reduce noise from process equipment in the gas industry, proposed by Gazprom VNIIGAZ LLC, improved working conditions of the operating personnel. However, due to development of new gas fields in adverse climatic conditions of the Far North and introduction of innovative equipment with increased capacity, the known methods are not enough, so the refinement and updating of measures to reduce noise seem to be timely and quite relevant.
A comprehensive approach is required to create healthy and safe working environment. In their Terms of Reference manufacturers are obliged to provide allowable sound power levels determined by design institutes in accordance with acoustic calculations, depending on the amount of equipment installed at one site. The goal of Gazprom VNIIGAZ is to ensure the reliability of such calculations and develop new efficient technical solutions for both plants and designers.
The article analyses the results of special assessment of working conditions for noise at PJSC Gazprom facilities, and identifies the main adverse factors affecting the health of an employee. The need for further organizational and technical measures to improve safety and security of personnel at gas industry enterprises has been proved. The fundamental importance of implementing noise reduction measures to mitigate occupational risks has been established.
