(AFRICAN GAS PROJECTS AND THEIR CONTRIBUTION TO THE DIVERSIFICATION OF THE GAS SUPPLY TO THE EUROPEAN MARKET)
The issue of meeting the needs of the main global natural gas importers remains crucial on the international agenda, as it is inextricably linked to the maintenance of the energy security. This article analyses the information currently available on the prospects for securing an additional supply of gas from the African region to the European market. Russian and international news sources, thematic reports and publications of the supranational organisations and research institutes such as the African Energy Chamber, the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies and statistical data have been used. The results obtained show that, at the current stage, expectations of a substantial increase in gas supplies from African producers are unwarranted.
