(PREREQUISITES AND SPECIFIC FEATURES OF THE OVERHAUL OF THE MAIN GAS PIPELINE RAZDELNAYA – IZMAIL)
Ensuring accident-free operation of long-operated pipelines is an urgent and complex task, the solution of which involves determining the timing of overhaul. A separate model has been developed for the Razdelnaya – Izmail main gas pipeline for this purpose. Two accidents which happened in 2009 served as a precondition for its development. Expert examination of a pipe fragment destroyed at 159.7 km in the service area of “Moldovatransgaz” SRL and radiographic testing data of a circular welded joint, which revealed unacceptable defects of installation nature, were the first stage of a complex evaluation of the gas pipeline’s state. The results of the survey confirmed the need for an overhaul. This overhaul was carried out between 2010 and 2019.
Analysis of pipe inspection data, which was carried out at the plant and calculated density of defect distribution throughout the length of gas pipeline sections, which were gradually put into overhaul by “Moldovatransgaz” SRL, allowed us to draw some conclusions. Thus, density of common defects distribution at three sections with a total length of 66.249 km (70.1 % of the gas pipeline length) varying within the range 248.7–405.5 defects/km, including corrosion defects – 208.2–292.9 defects/km, corresponds to the previously published indicators, and at the other two sections 22.302 and 5.917 km long they are many times higher. The distribution density of common defects is 1039.7 and 2005.4 defects/km respectively, including corrosion ones of 827.6 and 1915.2 defects/km.
The conducted research allowed to obtain new values of density distribution of common and corrosion defects of pipes and to supplement with them the existing database of results of inspection, which is carried out during overhaul of longoperated gas pipelines.
