(METHODS AND TEST BENCHES FOR INVESTIGATING THE WEAR RESISTANCE OF VARIOUS STAGE DESIGNS OF ELECTRICAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS)
Electric-drive centrifugal (submersible) pump units remain the most common equipment used for mechanized extraction of formation fluids from wells in Russia. About 70 % of the active well stock is equipped with them as of the beginning of 2022. However, a large number of oil wells equipped with submersible pumps are characterized by the presence of various complicating factors.
One of the main tasks set before the oil industry along with fulfillment of the oil production plan is to increase the average operating time before failure of electrically driven vane pumps. Therefore, oil and service companies pay more and more attention to the wear resistance of stages and ways to improve it.
The article considers the methodology of complex tests of different designs of submersible pump stages and some results of submersible pumps research. The methodology and test benches were developed at the Department of Machines and Equipment of Oil and Gas Industry of the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas (National Research University). The results obtained during the tests by this technique correlate well with the results of pump stage wear in wells, the operation of which is complicated by high content of abrasive mechanical impurities. The results obtained are used to develop new equipment designs and technical recommendations for the use of downhole equipment in complicated operating conditions.
