(TEST RESULTS OF AUSTENITIC STEEL LINER AS A CORROSION PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR TUBING AND LINE PIPES)
The paper presents an analysis of modern methods of pipe base metal protection through the use of alloying agents and special coatings or inserts. It is noted that the system represented by a liner – an insert made of austenitic stainless steel or chrome-nickel alloy (for environments with a high hydrogen sulphide content) and fixed inside the pipe by roll-in method is meant for corrosion protection of tubing and line pipes, the technology allows to install the system both in new pipes and in previously used pipes, including those with polymer coating applied before.
The effectiveness of the liner has been proven by a series of laboratory tests, including pitting corrosion tests, autoclave corrosion tests, mechanical defect corrosion tests, sulphide stress corrosion cracking tests and axial thrust (shear) resistance tests carried out at Research and Production Centre ‘Samara’ LLC. Samples of steel grades 35 (with up to 0.25 % chromium), 30KhGSA, 30Kh3MF, 20Kh13 (with up to 13 % chromium), including those with internal polymer anti-corrosion coating, and InoxInside austenitic steel liner were examined. Based on the results of the tests, a conclusion has been made that the liner can be used in wells with any intensity of corrosive processes, up to high-injectivity wells of the reservoir pressure maintenance system.
